Scar Revision
Scars can be caused by many different reasons - prior surgery, acne, trauma, or skin cancer are only a few. Regardless, if you are unhappy with the way your scar healed, Dr. Hu offers an array of advanced techniques to improve scar appearance. While nonsurgical modalities exist, a surgical revision may be necessary. This involves cutting out the previous scar and reorienting the closure along resting skin tension lines, which maximizes the chances that it will heal seamlessly.
How It Works
-
Dr. Hu will begin your consultation by listening to your concerns about your scar and discussing the results you would like to achieve.
She will take care to thoroughly explain the specific surgical techniques that she will use to improve the scar’s appearance.
-
Next, Dr. Hu will take a full health history and perform a complete examination of your face, with particular focus on the scar and the surrounding area. With this information, Dr. Hu will create a tailored plan to help you achieve your aesthetic goals. In addition to a surgical scar revision, Dr. Hu may recommend adjunct procedures such as laser resurfacing or microneedling with radiofrequency to optimize healing.
-
Finally, Dr. Hu and her clinical team will discuss the details of the surgery, pricing, how to plan for it, and what to expect after.
Scar revision is performed on-site in a state-of-the-art private operating suite at AIREM. The procedure is almost always performed under local anesthesia only, and you are able to leave on your own afterward.
